Princeton Gap Year (PGY) is a student-run group recognized by Princeton’s Office of the Dean of Undergraduate Students (ODUS). We focus on welcoming back students who return each fall and spring after time away. We build community, provide mentorship and resources, and advocate for policy changes that support gap year students. We take a broad, inclusive view of “gap years”, one that encompasses other terms like bridge years, interim years, deferrals, withdrawals and leaves. Most Princeton students who take time off in one of these forms have experiences and perspectives in common. Our broader goal is to raise awareness about different paths through Princeton and to share our stories with students who might benefit from our perspective.
